Activity Assistant

The Gathering Place is an Adult Day program serving elders and adults with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities. Our participants enjoy music, arts, games, exercise, and companionship.

About the role

Entry-level candidates with a sincere interest in working with elders and adults with disabilities are welcomed. No experience is necessary; paid training will be provided for the right candidate. The most important qualifications are reliability, consistency, teamwork, kindness toward participants, and a willingness to engage with enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

• Interact with participants to foster socialization, well-being, and a sense of community
• Set up and clean up activity areas
• Encourage participation in various activities, including games, crafts, and exercise routines
• Assist with meal service, laundry, and keeping service areas clean
• Monitor the comfort, safety, and overall health of participants

Requirements

• References required and verification of past employment history
• Ability to prioritize assignments
• Ability to lift up to thirty pounds
• Positive and respectful communication

Pay

$16–$17/hour depending on experience

Schedule

15 hours per week, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. No weekends or evenings; closed on major holidays.
