Activity Assistant

About the Role

SMP Health - Ave Maria is seeking an energetic and creative individual to join our Activity Department full-time (40 hours per week). This role focuses on motivating residents to participate in activities and providing therapeutic interventions to meet their social and recreational needs.

Schedule

This position requires working 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with one day per week from 11:00 am until 7:30 pm. The role also includes working every fourth weekend and on holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide small and large group activities, as well as one-to-one activities for residents.
• Assist with transportation of residents to activities to ensure participation.
• Plan activities for your work schedule and communicate them to the Activity Director for inclusion in the monthly calendar.
• Offer suggestions and introduce ongoing variations in planned activities to enhance the overall Activity Program.
• Assess residents for individual activity interests and preferences, and develop programs accordingly to encourage participation.
• Communicate residents' interests, participation, and responses to Social Services.
• Attend care conferences as assigned and complete activity assessments as required.
• Report pertinent information to Social Services or Primary Nurse, including behaviors or events that need to be documented in resident records.
• Maintain resident activity documentation.
• Perform safety and infection control procedures, including managing wandering residents, fire safety, severe weather protocols, universal precautions, and safe operation of equipment.
• Attend mandated meetings to stay informed.
