Activity Assistant

About the Role

Ridgeway Rehab Center, a 61-bed skilled nursing facility in Catonsville, Maryland, is seeking a friendly and vibrant Activity Assistant to design and lead activities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate group and one-on-one activities that engage residents physically, emotionally, and socially under the direction of the Life Enrichment Director.
• Spend time with each resident to understand their preferences and tailor activities to their needs and personality.
• Welcome new residents, helping them feel at home and integrate into the community.
• Monitor and document resident participation, behavior changes, and engagement, sharing observations to inform care plans.
• Collaborate with community volunteers, guiding them and assigning tasks to enrich the activity program.
• Follow infection control, safety, and privacy protocols to maintain a comfortable and dignified environment.
• Communicate positively and work effectively with residents, families, team members, and supervisors.
• Assist promptly with resident requests and report concerns or equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Attend meetings and training sessions to stay updated on care practices and contribute fresh ideas to the activity program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience in a Long Term Care Activities Department or similar role.
• A positive attitude, patience, and a genuine desire to brighten residents' days.

Schedule

Ridgeway Rehab operates 24/7, requiring some rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and occasional inclement weather work.
