Activity Assistant

About the role

Highlands Oaks Health Center, a nursing home in McConnelsville, Ohio, is seeking an Activity Assistant to join our team. This role assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents in a long-term care facility. The position promotes residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being while supporting individualized care plans and enhancing quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and conducting daily activity programs for residents.
• Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences, abilities, and limitations.
• Provide one-on-one visits for residents who are unable to participate in group activities.
• Assist with decorating and celebrating holidays, special events, and seasonal celebrations.
• Document resident participation, attendance, and responses to activities accurately and timely.
• Assist with community outings, entertainment, and special events.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or Administrator.
