About the role

We are searching for a Full-Time Activities Specialist to work in our residential programs located in Malvern and West Chester, PA. This position assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive recreational program, which includes both group and individual activities in the residence and the community. This role oversees the individual recreational programs of assigned clients, completes initial assessments, monitors monthly progress, and prepares all necessary discharge plans.

Works in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist to understand, monitor, and provide feedback on strategies and leisure activities related to a client’s individual recreation plan in the residence/apartment and in the community. Works directly with the client and provides minimum to maximum assistance and/or supervision to promote the client’s success in daily living tasks, recreational activities, and vocational/educational pursuits as identified by clients’ treatment plan.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive recreational program, including group and individual activities in the residence and community.
  • Oversee individual recreational programs of assigned clients.
  • Complete initial assessments, monitor monthly progress, and prepare discharge plans.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Therapist to provide feedback on strategies and leisure activities related to a client’s individual recreation plan.
  • Work directly with clients to promote success in daily living tasks, recreational activities, and vocational/educational pursuits (e.g., residential/hygiene routines, meal prep and planning, apartment/room upkeep, transportation training, pedestrian safety, money management/budgeting systems, walking, PT exercises, visual exercises).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in leisure/recreational principles (e.g., individual and group leisure activities, special events, overnight trips, sober leisure lifestyle, and social skill development).
  • Complete all tasks necessary to support the client’s treatment plan (e.g., direct care, med admin, transportation, job coaching, transfers, and med procedures).

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record must be maintained at all times.
  • Competence in writing, planning, organization, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families, professionals, and co-workers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.

Schedule
