About the role

This position assists the Adventure Coordinator with monitoring and providing safe procedures at the various activities across camp. It involves helping with the operation and maintenance of all program activities and equipment, adhering to the Camp Code of Conduct, supporting the Christian camping and ministry culture, and upholding the mission and practices of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
  • Absorb and abide by all camp policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the health and well-being of self and campers.
  • Always maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers.
  • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain group/staff control at specialized group activities.
  • Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule.
  • Attend relevant in-service trainings.
  • Meet weekly with Adventure Coordinator to communicate needs, program changes, and concerns related to activities programming.
  • Work in a variety of program areas to support cabins, including high ropes, zipline, rock wall, etc., and implement rainy day activities as needed.
  • Assist with overnight campouts, gather needed supplies for cookouts, and assist with programming of all campfire programs.
  • Facilitate Challenge Course programing as scheduled, ensuring all pre-use inspections take place prior to using activities.
  • Work with Adventure Coordinator to maintain equipment when necessary.
  • Perform all other duties and roles assigned.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and ability to take a leadership role.
  • 18+ years of age.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site).
  • Experience and previous knowledge of camp activities, preferably ACCT Level 1 or site-specific training (may be obtained on site if needed).
  • Ability to use positive behavior management techniques with campers and adapt to difficult situations with maturity and safety.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.
  • Support The Salvation Army’s mission and reflect and model the high standards of the organization.

Qualifications and Education

  • Positive attitude and leadership skills.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (obtainable on site).
  • Experience with camp activities, preferably ACCT Level 1 or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage behavior positively and handle challenging situations maturely.
  • High standards of personal and communal living.
  • Support for The Salvation Army’s mission and organizational values.

Benefits

Temporary; Full-time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours).

Pay

$400 weekly
