Activities Coordinator- Parkville
Chesapeake Treatment Center is a 29-bed residential treatment center for adolescent and young adult males located in Parkville, MD (near Towson). The primary goal of the program is to support each youth with changing unhealthy thinking and poor decision-making into more adaptive and pro-social behaviors.
Chesapeake Treatment Center Inc. provides a comprehensive continuum of treatment for adolescents and young adults experiencing complex mental health, sexualized behaviors, trauma, substance abuse, gang, and other related issues. Our programs are accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO).
About the role
The Expressive Therapist (Activities Coordinator) utilizes various creative art forms—such as music, dance, art, drama, and writing—as therapeutic tools to help clients explore and express their emotions, facilitating healing and personal growth by providing a safe space to process complex feelings through creative expression.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Department of Juvenile Justice
- Collaborate with unit staff
- Provide crisis intervention
- Demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and/or special needs population
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Driver’s License
- Ability to work two days out of a month on the weekends
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents/young adults preferred
