Overview

Primarily responsible for coordinating development and ensuring smooth execution of activities available for participation by all residents to enhance the quality of their health and well being. Works under the supervision of the Health Services Administrator to develop and provide quality activity services for the residents of the Convalescent Center, Berkley Assisted Living and Springhouse Memory Care Unit. Maintains space, equipment and supplies for the provision of activity services. Actively performs as a member of the interdisciplinary team and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide interventions in the geriatric population.

What You Will Do

  • Schedules and conducts programs.
  • Ensures daily activities run without interruption.
  • Works with Activities Coordinators to ensure departmental compliance and evaluate/improve activity programs.
  • Covers events in the absence of an Activity Coordinator.
  • Oversees activity areas for resident services.
  • Maintains proper maintenance, adequate equipment and supplies for these areas to ensure compliance with facility policies and availability of needed items.
  • Adheres to budget and coordinates with other services such as rehabilitation, social services, dietary, pharmacy, consulting physicians, etc.
  • Schedules monthly resident council meetings, records and distributes minutes.
  • Conducts annual elections of resident council and organizes induction banquets.
  • Oversees and maintains the personal shopping of all residents who request and/or who are without sponsors.
  • Fulfills necessary documentation in a timely manner, in accordance with facility policies and state regulations (e.g., MDS, Activity Assessments, ISPs/Care Plans, Progress Notes, activity attendance records).
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with the public, residents and family members, projecting a favorable image of LLHARS Division.
  • Uses free time between programs to make visits to resident's rooms, talk with residents and families, and make efforts to sign them up for activities of interest.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, related field (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Recreational Therapy (Preferred)
  • Prior activities experience in a long-term care or special population (Preferred)
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) - National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) (Preferred)
  • Activities Professional Certification (APC) - National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (Preferred)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
  • First Aid - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
