About the role
The Cypress of Charlotte is recruiting for a hospitality-focused Driver to transport residents to grocery stores, monthly outings, and extended trips as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Pickup and deliver residents safely to all scheduled activities where transportation is needed.
- Open vehicle doors and greet residents and guests.
- Carefully assist residents and guests who need help, including retrieving/replacing walkers, wheelchairs, etc.
- Make miscellaneous runs for the office (e.g., bank, printer, post office) as needed.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.
- Maintain an accurate and current log of trips and mileage for Cypress vehicles.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of six to twelve months’ experience as a bus/van driver.
- Must be at least 18 years or older with a valid driver license and a “clean” driving record.
- Must have CDL with “P” endorsement.
- Ability to count and perform simple logic exercises to properly park and retrieve vehicles.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Pleasant, tactful, courteous, and cooperative with residents, families, guests, and employees.
- Ability to communicate respectfully, empathetically, and professionally in English (reading, writing, and following oral/written instructions).
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for 50% of the day; frequent standing, stooping, bending, and squatting throughout a shift.
- Standing/walking for up to 50% of the workday.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. without assistance and carry for 15 feet.
- Exposure to inclement weather (rain, cold, heat).
- Frequent entry/exit of vehicles and driving short distances for resident pick-up/delivery.
- Continuous walking or jogging on hilly terrain to park and retrieve vehicles.
Schedule
PRN (“as needed”) schedule, including:
- 1–2 Saturday nights per month (6pm – 11pm).
- Additional weekends as needed.
- One 4–6 hour midday trip per week.
Pay
$20 – $21.32 per hour, depending on experience.
