Activities Assistant to Work with Residents FT in LTC East Longmeadow

Responsibilities

• Works with supervisor to complete assessments
• Assists in implementing 1:1 and group activities with assigned residents
• Adapts or modifies activities to meet resident’s needs
• Provides residents with resources, supplies, and equipment
• Provides emotional support to residents and families
• Provides a positive, supportive atmosphere during recreation sessions
• Ensures resident safety during recreation sessions; follows health and safety policies, anticipates hazards, and takes appropriate measures
• Participates in team meetings
• Communicates behavioral observations of residents to other staff and team members
• Encourages resident involvement in recreation opportunities and provides necessary supports to facilitate involvement

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever level of ability at which they are currently functioning
