Activities Assistant | Senior Living
Patriots Landing is hiring a part-time activities assistant to support memory care residents with daily activities. This role is ideal for an active, fun, and self-motivated individual.
About the role
Join the Careage team and lead exercise classes and other activities for residents. This is a part-time, on-call position with shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Responsibilities
- Uphold the mission, philosophies, and values of the facility.
- Stay informed about area and community functions.
- Organize and help plan the monthly activity calendar, ensuring variety, quality, and interests appropriate for memory care residents in cooperation with the Activities Director.
- Facilitate daily in-house group and one-on-one activities.
- Help maintain the entertainment and supplies budget in coordination with the Assisted Living Director.
- Drive, load, and unload the community bus (no CDL required).
- Communicate resident preferences, comments, and concerns via monthly resident council meetings.
- Coordinate decorating the community for monthly themes, holidays, and events with the Assisted Living Director.
- Implement monthly special events, including birthday parties and other social celebrations, with the Assisted Living Director.
- Create opportunities for artistic enrichment and creativity using crafts designed for successful outcomes, regardless of skill or cognitive level.
- Maintain a cheerful, enthusiastic attitude while promoting and encouraging resident participation and socialization.
- Develop teamwork and a cooperative attitude with care staff to better involve them in activities.
- Assist care staff and residents at mealtimes as permitted or able.
- Respond to and assist in resident, staff, guest, or community emergencies per guidelines.
- Maintain equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly manner; report deficiencies to the Maintenance Director.
- Assist the Activities Director in creating a weekly supply shopping list as needs arise.
- Be aware of resident dietary and medical restrictions (e.g., diabetes, thickened liquids, walker/wheelchair use).
- Report unusual incidents or marked changes in resident behavior to the Executive Director and/or Health Services Director as appropriate.
- Maintain a professional, sensitive attitude when dealing with residents, family, staff, and others.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Perform any other duties as required by the Executive Director.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in marketing, customer service, caregiving, and/or activities planning in a senior living environment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Strong oral, written, and computer skills.
- Reliable with a cheerful, outgoing personality.
- Capable of meeting ongoing state and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with a senior population, particularly those with memory issues or dementia, is preferred.
Pay
$17.13–$18.50 an hour, with previous experience considered.
Schedule
Part-time, on-call shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (shift times vary).
