Activities Assistant (PRN)
About the role
The Activity Assistant at Westminster, a luxury senior living community in central Austin, assists with a variety of activities designed to meet the needs of residents in the skilled nursing team.
Responsibilities
- Assists with coordination and participation at resident parties, cultural activities, special entertainment, day trips, special events, and activities at the bedside where indicated for the resident population.
- Assists the Activity Director in meeting the needs of all Arbour residents.
- Performs or guides the movement or transfer of residents to and from recreational areas.
- Inventories supplies and equipment to determine repair, maintenance needs, and cleanliness.
- Affords direction and support to volunteers, enlisting their help and coordinating their efforts.
- Leads discussion and special interest groups, games, and other activities with residents, families, etc.
Qualifications
- Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English effectively, using proper speech and grammar.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
- Two years experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting or related field is preferred.
- Certification as an Activity Professional is preferred.
Benefits
This position is PRN and will not have a set schedule or regular hours; this position will be available to pick up shifts/hours when the Activity Director and Activity Coordinator need assistance.
