About the role
The Activities Assistant helps plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs in line with facility policy, resident care plans, and supervisor direction.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Activities Director in creating a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in a prominent location visible to residents and visitors.
- Ensure a copy of the monthly calendar is placed in each resident’s room.
- Interview residents or family members to obtain activity preferences.
- Coordinate and assist residents in getting to activity locations within the facility.
- Assist in conducting scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents.
- Document resident activity program attendance and ensure all charted activity progress notes are informative, descriptive of the services provided, and indicate the resident’s response to the service.
- Observe resident mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in facility activities and report any changes or concerns to the Activities Director.
- Involve residents and families in planning the activities program when possible.
- Assist with conducting in-room activities programs for residents who benefit from one-on-one visits.
- Coordinate and arrange for offsite field trips and transportation needs when necessary.
- Coordinate activities needs and requests with other departments courteously and promptly to ensure daily activities proceed without interruption.
- Assist with Resident/Family Council meetings as indicated.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
