About the role
Perform various tasks, activities, and non-clinical services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to assigned residents with the activities of daily living in accordance with the residents' individualized service plan, including dining support, encouraging eating and hydration, and social reassurance.
- Restock supplies.
- Assist residents in wheelchairs to and from events (e.g., bathing).
- Take menu orders from residents.
- Engage in 1-on-1 interactions with residents to enhance socialization.
- Apply and remove glasses and hearing aids for residents.
- Make beds.
- Respond to call lights.
- Assist with feeding non-choking or non-aspiration risk residents.
- Complete errands for residents.
- Perform personal care such as combing hair or washing faces and hands.
- Cut food, assist with meal setup, and provide assistance during meals as needed.
- Stay with residents while in the bathroom to free up certified staff for other tasks.
- Assist with dietary services, such as delivering meals to resident rooms.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including dusting, disinfecting, and washing windows.
- Perform laundry functions, such as washing, drying, and folding clothes.
- Deliver mail, water, snacks, or other items to residents' rooms.
- Document resident assistance activities and resident status daily in accordance with community policy.
- Be aware of resident needs for social and psychological support.
- Adhere to the Resident’s Bill of Rights and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Be aware of and comply with Resident Abuse Reporting Law.
- Attend mandatory in-service training programs.
- Know your assigned supervisor and direct concerns to them.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to the community safety program at all times.
- Receive and give reports on assigned duties when coming on and going off duty.
Requirements
- Complete a specialized training program and successfully pass a Competency Exam.
- Enrollment in an approved CNA Training Program is encouraged.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Complete background checks.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions and work independently in the absence of supervision.
