About the role

At FutureCare, our Activities Assistants work under the direction of the Activities Director in the organization, development, and implementation of the facility activity program. They also assist the Activities Director in providing entertainment, inter-communication, socialization, exercise, relaxation, and opportunities for creative and religious expression.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily activity programs to improve quality of life through promotion of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
  • Assist in making daily announcements for resident orientation, information, weather, and resident/staff birthdays.
  • Fulfill the sensory needs of bedridden residents and LYFE participants.
  • Assist in planning the monthly calendar of activities and suggest ideas for future planning.
  • Communicate with the Activities Director regarding daily problems, concerns, and issues related to resident behavior.
  • Work with and orient volunteers during activities, supervising them alongside the Director.
  • Document attendance at activities and complete individual participation records.
  • Attend care plan meetings when assigned.
  • Document inventory of supplies.
  • Assist and participate in scheduled outings outside of the facility.
  • Communicate with organization representatives within the community who visit the facility.
  • Act as a representative of the Department in the absence of the Director.
  • Attend administrative meetings as designated.
  • Collaborate with other staff members in conducting events.
  • Abide by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment or observed hazards to the proper department.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience working in a skilled nursing facility environment preferred.
  • Strong desire to work with the elderly or disabled.
  • Previous experience in arts/crafts and/or music highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle emotional and behavioral disturbances.
  • Must be vivacious and patient in interactions with residents.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.

Pay

Competitive pay range: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour. The salary mentioned reflects the potential base pay range for this role. Bonuses or other incentives (if applicable) are offered separately and paid pursuant to the relevant program schedule.
