The Activity Assistant works in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the instruction from the Community Life Service Director. The Activity Assistant position is to help implement programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the community residents. Primary Responsibilities Assists with planning and coordinating with the Community Life Services Director: Activities and events, Discussion groups & clubsSensory stimulationCultural activitiesReligious servicesSpecial entertainmentOff-property tripsSpecial eventsIT supportIn-house moviesInstructional courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentationsHealth & fitness activitiesCustomized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing eventsHoliday parties Qualifications One year experience in a social or recreational program preferred. Experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration preferred.Must have the ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and to use appropriate judgment to protect the safety and dignity of the resident,Flexibility with hours - will involve nights and weekends All new hires must be able to pass our preemployment screening process, which includes a fitness for duty physical, criminal background check, drug test and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility.
