About the role
The Activities Assistant supports the Director of Activities in planning, organizing, developing, and directing quality activities for patients. This role ensures the recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of each patient are met in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Based on comprehensive assessments and care plans, the assistant provides an ongoing program of activities—both facility-sponsored and independent—to meet patient interests and support their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, encouraging independence and community interaction.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct a program of activities that provides entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression, fulfilling basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs for all facility residents.
Requirements
- Sufficient knowledge and experience in long-term care.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Activities Assistant.
- Successful completion of a training and competency evaluation program.
- Completion of company orientation.
- Health screening and TB test (if required) within two weeks of employment.
- Mandatory drug test within 90 days of hire.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Provide satisfactory evidence of identity and employment eligibility within three days of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
