The Resident of North Ridge in New Hope, MN is looking to hire an Activities and Transportation Assistant to join our dynamic and caring clinical team.
About the role
The Recreation Specialist assists in planning and implementing our Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program to meet the physical, mental, psycho-social, and spiritual needs of our residents. This position also involves transportation duties, ensuring safe and reliable transport for residents.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct activity programs under direct supervision.
- Assist with resident outings and transport residents to and from programs.
- Conduct one-to-one therapeutic visits with residents.
- Assist in planning special events and decorating for therapeutic programs.
- Maintain a caseload of residents and record daily attendance.
- Provide input for care and family conferences.
- Perform pre-trip safety checks and maintain vehicle condition.
- Report any vehicle maintenance needs.
- Safely transport vulnerable adults and seniors, adhering to MN Department of Transportation and STS regulations.
- Assist clients to and from the vehicle as needed.
- Follow schedules, special trip requests, and transport groups as assigned.
- Adhere to all laws, company procedures, and safety precautions, including weather and road conditions.
- Ensure proper restraint of wheelchair passengers.
- Build meaningful relationships with the community and assist where needed.
Requirements
- Special interest in working with geriatric residents.
- Ability to learn and follow therapeutic recreational techniques and documentation procedures.
- Ability to generate enthusiasm during programs and participate in special events.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Must be 24+ years old with a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no revocations, suspensions, or cancellations in the last 5 years).
- Ability to pass an MN DOT physical.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals preferred.

Schedule
Full-time, mid-day hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
