Active Older Adult Fitness Instructor

Essential Functions

  • Lead quality group fitness classes, as directed by the Healthy Living Director, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  • Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.
  • Be able to respond and follow YMCA policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Be punctual for all classes.
  • If not able to facilitate a scheduled class, secure a substitute and inform the Healthy Living Director.
  • Maintain all equipment used in all Group Fitness rooms and assist in keeping all rooms in proper order.
  • Attend all department staff meetings.
  • Follow and support in actions and words all YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Positively promote all YMCA programs to members and the community.
  • Demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through actions, words and attitude to YMCA members and all YMCA team members.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience teaching active older adults in group fitness settings preferred.
  • Aquatics group exercise experience preferred.
  • Required Certifications: CPR, AED, National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification.
  • Senior fitness specialty preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills
