Job Description
Coffman Engineers is seeking a talented and self-motivated Acoustical Engineer/Consultant with 1–4 years of experience to join our Bay Area team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive acoustical consulting services—from initial feasibility studies through design, permitting, and construction support. We’re looking for someone enthusiastic about collaboration, eager to grow within a multidisciplinary environment, and ready to bring energy and creativity to every project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to acoustics (Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, etc.)
- 1–4 years of experience in acoustical consulting
- Proficiency with SoundPLAN (preferred)
- Ability to perform acoustical measurements using appropriate testing equipment
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset
- Motivation to learn and adopt the latest technologies and practices
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Able to assist with design development and project reporting
Responsibilities
- Perform acoustical analysis and modeling for building and environmental projects
- Conduct site measurements and testing using industry-standard equipment
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for design teams and clients
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate acoustical solutions
- Support permitting and compliance documentation throughout project phases
Compensation and Benefits
Approximate Base Salary – $75,000 to $98,000
Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
Competitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
