ACL Lab Writing Coach (Part-Time)

About the role

We have a part-time opening for an ACL Lab Writing Coach to work remotely supporting the Army War College.

Responsibilities

• Provide online one-on-one writing consultations and paper reviews for students in the Resident Education Program (REP), Distance Education Program (DEP), Blended Education Program (BEP), Basic Strategic Arts Program (BSAP), and AWC Fellows Program.
• Offer feedback and guidance on course papers and research projects related to pre-writing strategies, argumentation, organization, style, grammar, and mechanics.

Requirements

• Pass a background check.
• Possess a minimum Master's degree from an accredited college or university in English, rhetoric, communication studies, or other closely aligned discipline.
• Be proficient in English and have experience tutoring students in writing in an academic setting.
• Have at least a basic knowledge of writing center scholarship, theories, and practices.
• Demonstrate experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365, including word processing and data entry tasks for evaluating and electronically annotating student writing submissions and recording correspondence and consultations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience instructing English as a Second Language students (preferred).
