Accounts Receivable Specialist I

Overview

Sentara Independence in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Remote Accounts Receivable Specialist I. This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in the Hampton Roads area. The Accounts Receivable Specialist I manages the day-to-day operations of the organization's accounts receivable, ensuring accurate and timely collection of payments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate billing and timely collection of payments
• Review and process insurance claims, verify patient information and coding for accuracy
• Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams to resolve payment discrepancies or issues
• Perform account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and apply appropriate payments or adjustments
• Maintain patient account balances, assist with follow-up on unpaid claims, and issue statements as needed
• Ensure adherence to healthcare billing regulations and policies
• Aid in month-end closing activities and financial reporting
• Collaborate with other departments to streamline AR processes
• Address and resolve patient or insurance inquiries related to billing and payment issues

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• 1 year of healthcare experience (required)
• Prior Accounts Receivable experience preferred
