Accounts Receivable Specialist

About the role

As the AR Specialist at Highway Specialties, you will provide customer service and invoicing, receive payments, and collect on past due accounts. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial operations and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer invoices and create credit memos based on accounting procedures.
• Process payments: enter and process daily deposits into ERP by matching payments to invoice numbers and ensuring accuracy.
• Interact with clients to distribute invoices, explain billing specifications, collect overdue payments, and address questions or concerns.
• Research and investigate invoice discrepancies, handle customer inquiries, and work with other departments to resolve billing disputes.
• Generate receivable reports and create & maintain weekly AR tracking reports for management review.
• Provide quick action on time-sensitive issues.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Gain product knowledge and learn industry terms.
• Manage accounts receivable ledgers and files.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Associate’s degree in accounting or 3 years’ experience in accounting.
• General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• General understanding and experience with ERP systems like Sage and NetSuite.
• Moderate skill level in Excel, Word, and other MS Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; self-motivated, organized, and detail-driven.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
