Accounting Specialist

About the Role

A mission-driven nonprofit in Sacramento is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join its Finance team. This position is responsible for a range of accounting duties, including AP/AR and payroll duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Process AP/AR and payroll related tasks
• Verify invoice accuracy and approvals
• Manage check runs, deposits and ACH
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies and payment issues
• Track AP aging and ensure compliance with audit requirements
• Monitor AR aging reports, follow up for overdue accounts
• Reconcile customer accounts, process credit memos and adjustments
• Respond to customer billing inquiries
• Process payroll of 250+ employees

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Nonprofit experience preferred
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, and Outlook
