About the role

CohnReznick is a hybrid firm and most of our professionals are located within a commutable distance to one of our offices. This position is considered hybrid, which means team members are expected to be thoughtful and intentional in how they create opportunities for in-person collaboration. While the cadence of in-office presence is determined at the team level, our professionals are required to be in the office/together in person on average 3 days a week.

Your team

The Family Office/Senior Accountant provides oversight, review, and advisory support for complex clients and ultra‑high‑net‑worth families and their related entities, including non-profits, businesses, multi-generational wealth, and trusts. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, resolves complex accounting issues, and serves as a trusted resource to both clients and internal teams. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in mentoring junior staff, improving processes, and elevating the overall quality of deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Client Service & Relationship Management
    • Serve as senior point of contact for assigned clients, addressing complex accounting matters
    • Identify and explain financial statements, trends, and anomalies to clients and advisors
    • Proactively anticipate client needs and recommend process or reporting improvements
    • Support managers with client communications and issue resolution
    • Collaborate with internal teams across tax, advisory, and other engagement teams to support coordinated service delivery
  • Accounting Oversight & Review
    • Review financial statements, reconciliations, and workpapers for accuracy and completeness
    • Resolve complex accounting and transactional issues across multi‑entity structures
    • Client cash flow management/projection, maximizing yield on cash accounts, evaluate client existing debt with consideration toward paying down debt or need for additional borrowing
    • Ensure consistency with firm standards and engagement expectations
    • Understand engagement terms and work performed
    • Provide final review sign‑off prior to manager or partner review when appropriate
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Train, mentor, and coach Bookkeepers and Staff Accountants
    • Review junior staff work and provide clear, actionable feedback
    • Assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer
    • Serve as subject‑matter resource for accounting systems and workflows, while understanding family dynamics, personalities, and needs
  • Process Improvement & Engagement Support
    • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to accounting processes
    • Assist with standardization, documentation, and best practices
    • Coordinate closely with tax and advisory teams on complex engagements

Your experience

  • 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Demonstrated review, mentoring, and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
  • Strong Excel and QuickBooks experience
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented, and organized

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Extensive experience with UHNW individuals, trusts, and family‑owned entities
  • Understanding of multi‑entity accounting
