Accounting/Ops Specialist

About the role

A local financial institution is seeking an Accounting & Operations Specialist to handle daily and monthly reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll, and maintenance of prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and the securities portfolio. This position also supports audits, prepares monthly board reports and regulatory filings, and provides backup for bookkeeping operations such as account settlements, wires, ACH transactions, and payment exceptions.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and monthly reconciliations
• Manage accounts payable and payroll processing
• Maintain prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and securities portfolio records
• Support internal and external audits
• Prepare monthly board reports and regulatory filings
• Provide backup for bookkeeping operations including account settlements, wire transfers, ACH transactions, and payment exception handling

Requirements

• Associate degree in Accounting or a closely related field
• At least 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar finance support role
• Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience
• Previous experience within a bank, credit union, or other financial institution is preferred

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing support, and account reconciliation processes
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and accuracy
• Well-organized and adaptable, capable of handling multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven setting
• Effective communication skills
