Accounting Manager/Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to oversee core accounting operations and strengthen financial discipline for our Baton Rouge, Louisiana team. This role leads the close process, supports cash management, and helps ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and reliable internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-moving IT software environment. Responsibilities: • Guide and develop the accounting team, setting clear expectations and ensuring work is completed accurately and on schedule. • Manage the monthly close cycle by coordinating timelines, reviewing reconciliations, recording accruals, and producing financial statements with variance commentary for finance leadership. • Oversee the general ledger structure and chart of accounts, including user permissions, periodic access reviews, and support for data backup and recovery practices. • Maintain accounting policies and internal control procedures that promote compliance, proper segregation of duties, and independent review of key account balances. • Support treasury activities by monitoring daily cash positions, completing bank reconciliations, and contributing to short-term cash flow forecasting. • Review payroll-related activity before processing and reconcile payroll, benefits, retirement contributions, commissions, and bonus accruals to the general ledger. • Prepare and record technical accounting transactions, including lease accounting entries and required remeasurements under applicable standards. • Assist with lender, investor, audit, and tax reporting by preparing schedules, tracking required calculations, coordinating documentation, and supporting filing deadlines. • Partner with department leaders to monitor spending against budget, contribute to forecasting activities, and provide financial insight that supports informed decision-making. • Identify opportunities to streamline manual accounting work through approved AI tools and contribute to system-related improvement initiatives when needed. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including prior responsibility for month-end close, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations.• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring team members in an accounting environment.• Working knowledge of technical accounting concepts, including lease accounting.• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; financial modeling capability is a plus.• Experience supporting audits, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate financial records.• Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and stay organized in a fast-paced setting.• Familiarity with AI productivity tools and a practical approach to process improvement; ERP implementation or migration exposure is preferred.
