Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate billings, cash receipt application, and vendor payments
- Collaborate with AP and AR specialists, providing oversight and review so that these areas have very few errors and timely entry
- Monitor issues that arise and manage more complex issues
- Approve AP invoices weekly in accordance with HOA budgeted expenses
- Provide oversight to staff accountant to ensure that monthly journal entries, including depreciation, amortization, and other required entries are recorded accurately and timely with appropriate back-up attached
- Review quarterly financial statements to ensure they are GAAP compliant, including: Review of major balance sheet account reconciliations, Review of cash reconciliations performed by others
- Perform reconciliations for more complex accounts as determined by Senior Manager, which may vary over time
- Manage audit requests to ensure a timely and adjustment-free issuance
- Present quarterly financials and annual budget at Board meetings
- Manage the Finance Committees for all Associations
- Manage the annual budget process, including creation of budget templates, reserve updates, and coordination of budget requirements with both the accounting team and operational team to ensure deadlines are met
- Manage reserve funds, actively monitor CD expiration dates to maximize earnings potential while following contractual obligations
- Cookordination and review resale requests
- Provide oversight to team members, including regular feedback and performance reviews
- Seek out opportunities to increase efficiencies and customer satisfaction throughout the accounting function
- Respond to owner, vendor or internal questions promptly and accurately
- Seek out opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes and systems
- Collaborate with Director of Community Associations and other operational team members on critical items regarding insurance, snow removal, reserve spend etc.
- Manage the preparation of management company monthly financials and billings
- Perform all other duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 4-6 years experience in accounting in increasingly complex roles
- Previous audit and account reconciliation experience
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Interested in growing and developing team members while establishing a strong sense of ownership over the Association financials
- Excellent time management skills as well as the ability to work under a deadline
- General comfort in learning new technology and teaching others
- Strong Excel proficiency
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable working in teams and independently
