About the role

The Accounting Manager – Financial Systems & Controls serves as the primary link among Accounting, Finance, and Information Technology. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role spends the majority of its time supporting, governing, and improving the financial systems used across North America and the Company's global operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, systems-oriented accounting professional who is comfortable working directly in ERP and related finance applications, analyzing data and interfaces, testing changes, troubleshooting issues, and partnering with technical teams. The role also supports financial reporting, close and consolidation, internal controls, automation, and business integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Systems & Governance
    • Serve as the finance lead for ERP financial modules, consolidation tools, interfaces, master data, workflows, and reporting structures.
    • Work directly in financial systems to investigate issues, evaluate configurations and data flows, and identify practical solutions.
    • Partner with Information Technology to define requirements and lead financial-system enhancements, upgrades, integrations, testing, implementation, training, and stabilization.
  • Financial Processes, Data & Controls
    • Support reliable close, consolidation, intercompany, fixed-asset, and reporting processes across a global, multi-entity environment.
    • Improve data integrity through system validations, reconciliations, exception reporting, master-data governance, and issue resolution.
    • Maintain financial-system controls and documentation covering access, interfaces, workflows, change management, and key control activities.
  • Automation & Continuous Improvement
    • Improve finance processes through system enhancements, automation, analytics, and standardization.
    • Use measurable objectives to improve close-cycle performance, reconciliation quality, reporting accuracy, and user experience.
    • Support acquisitions and business integrations through data migration, system harmonization, control alignment, and chart-of-accounts mapping.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Translate accounting and reporting needs into clear functional requirements for technical teams.
    • Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, regional finance teams, Information Technology, auditors, and external advisors.
    • Drive accountability for project milestones, change management, and sustainable system adoption.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
    • Eight or more years of progressive experience in accounting, financial systems, controllership, or a related discipline.
    • Strong hands-on experience with ERP and related financial systems, including financial modules, data, interfaces, workflows, master data, and reporting structures.
    • Experience partnering with Information Technology on financial-system implementations, upgrades, integrations, testing, and issue resolution.
    • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger, close, consolidation, intercompany, and internal-control processes in a multi-entity environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives, multiple priorities, and deadlines without direct authority.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification.
    • Experience with JDE or comparable enterprise ERP and consolidation platforms.
    • Experience in a SOX-compliant or equivalent internal-control environment.
    • Familiarity
