About the team
The Corporate Reporting - Close Management team leads the worldwide accounting month-end and quarter-end close process by establishing close calendars and coordinating with Accounting, Tax teams to ensure books are closed on time for external (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) and internal management reporting. In addition to owning Amazon's Chart of Accounts and corresponding policy, as well as Amazon's Corporate Allocations.
Key job responsibilities
- Monthly Chart of Account review and approvals managing Amazon's Corporate Allocations impacting external reporting (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) and internal management reporting
- Assist with quarterly SEC deliverable preparation and review
- Significant collaboration with internal stakeholders within and outside of the accounting organization, including Finance, Tax and Statutory Accounting teams
- Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities
- Drive impactful global projects
- Financial reporting research and position paper writing
Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
Preferred qualifications
- CPA
- Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency
- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients
- Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions
