About the role
A well-established professional services organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the general ledger and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Oversee accounting for client funds and other fiduciary accounts, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
- Manage daily cash flow activities, including operating cash balances, forecasting, and treasury functions.
- Review bank reconciliations and monitor cash-related accounting activity.
- Cook up relationships with financial institutions and support banking, treasury, and cash management initiatives.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and coordinate annual audit activities.
- Manage tax compliance activities, partnering with external advisors on required filings and other reporting obligations.

- Supervise and develop the accounting team through coaching, performance management, and cross-training.
- Oversee payroll and accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective internal controls.
- Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial systems through automation and process optimization.
- Partner with leadership on special projects and strategic finance initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior supervisory or management experience.
- Previous experience within a professional services organization (law firm, accounting firm, consulting firm, engineering firm, or similar) strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.
- Experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, cash management, and audit coordination.
- Familiarity with accounting for client trust, escrow, or other fiduciary accounts preferred.
- Experience managing accounting system enhancements or process improvement initiatives is a plus.
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while partnering effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
