Accounting Manager

About the role

A professional services organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, audit and tax activities, and a small accounting team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys balancing day-to-day financial management with process improvement and team development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end and year-end close process, maintain the general ledger, and prepare accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee cash management, banking relationships, account reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, and trust account activity.
• Manage audit and tax compliance efforts, serving as the primary contact for external auditors and advisors.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members while ensuring strong internal controls and operational efficiency.
• Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and best practices across the accounting function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred.
• 5-7+ years of accounting experience, with a strong background in financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Experience in a professional services environment strongly preferred.
