Job Description
The Accounting Manager coordinates, identifies, recommends, and performs activities for the general accounting operations including general ledger, financial reporting, tax reporting, fixed assets, social accountability reporting, and audits as established by ULP. They assist in the organization and communication needs of the facility as it pertains to financial matters and manage multiple priorities. The manager supervises and maintains a staff of accounts payable specialists, develops, evaluates, and assures departmental goals and objectives are achieved.
- Develop and establish a strong working relationship between Accounting staff and other departments within the health system.
- Provide accounting leadership in directing general accounting functions, overseeing Accounting staff, handling any disciplinary issues and performing evaluations.
- Manage and perform the month-end close.
- Review monthly journal entries, account analysis and work papers; prepare monthly balance sheets and statement of operations, reconcile and review financial statements.
- Proactively provide assistance and support with the annual budgeting process to the necessary departments.
- Maintain financial security by establishing internal controls.
- Interface with external and internal auditors to provide financial information and resolve financial questions.
- Prepare year end audit work papers and financial statements.
- To include testing, writing new procedures and training of accounting personnel.
- Prepare necessary documents and schedules to assist external auditors in filing year-end tax returns.
- Afford support to systemwide finance initiatives, including ERP enhancements, process redesign, and reporting improvements.
- Oversee preparation of fund reporting, line-item reports, and annual projections.
- Maintain the integrity of accounting data across systems and ensure accurate financial integration with other platforms.
- Perform special projects and analyses as requested by leadership.
- Ensure ongoing adherence to HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality standards.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (required).
- Experience: Five to seven years of financial management experience in a healthcare setting is required.
- Licensure: N/A.
- Certification: N/A.

- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), MS Teams and Access.
- Prior experience using Premier or ERP software applications.
- Capacity to learn other relevant systems and databases, as needed.
