About the role

Old Dominion Group Inc. (ODG), a respected specialty contractor founded in 1981, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This position plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations by ensuring accuracy, organization, and efficiency across multiple accounting functions. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Support consolidation and reporting across multiple entities, brands, and locations.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities.
  • Active participation in external audits along with hands-on involvement in strengthening internal controls.
  • Continuous process improvement — you’ll be expected to ask questions, spot inefficiencies, and help raise the bar for how the Accounting Department operates.
  • Assist in training and supporting team members on accounting procedures, systems, and best practices.
  • Keep documentation, templates, and systems organized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 4–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, consulting, or another analytical role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, and accounting fundamentals.
  • High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, along with experience using ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Curious, confident, and hardworking, with a willingness to quickly learn and apply new skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic, reliable transportation, and flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, professional demeanor, and the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Positive team player with a solutions-oriented attitude.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat, and climb.
  • Able to travel to jobsites, meetings, and other destinations as needed.
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Able to work with specialized construction equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Able to see, talk, and hear in person, via phone, and/or through online/video.
  • Able to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of a keyboard and phone.
  • Able to lift & carry items up to 10 lbs.
