Accounting Manager
Definition
The State Bar of California’s Office of Finance is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Accounting Manager to carry out comprehensive accounting and financial responsibilities in areas of grants, budgeting, investments, audits, general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing (corporate) cards, expense reports, personnel supervision, and special projects. The Accounting Manager exercises sound, independent judgment in performing complex analytical work; adapts quickly to changing environment and effectively implements course of action; participates in audit activities; works under pressure and deadlines; provides training and clear guidance to staff; and performs other related duties as required.
Duties
- Carries out comprehensive accounting and financial responsibilities in areas of grants, budgeting, investments, audits, general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing (corporate) cards, expense reports, personnel supervision, and special projects.
- Exercises sound, independent judgment in performing complex analytical work.
- Adapts quickly to changing environment and effectively implements course of action.
- Participates in audit activities.
- Works under pressure and deadlines.
- Provides training and clear guidance to staff.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Prior experience in governmental grant accounting and budgeting is desired.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial management.
- CPA certification preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $126,222 - $168,276.
Schedule
This position allows for up to four days of remote work per week and one mandatory in-office day (Wednesdays).
