About the role
The Primary purpose of this position is to assist Silver State Schools Credit Union to live out its Mission, "Excellent Member Service and Financial Solutions - For Life," by providing outstanding service to both members and internal partners. Develop a highly effective team of employees to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal partners and members. A key component of this service is to identify the financial needs of the member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution.
Responsibilities

- Assists in the preparation of all required/scheduled reports which summarize and forecast the Credit Union's business activity and financial position in areas of assets, liabilities, equity, income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations, including the monthly Board report.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Recommends policies, establishes, modifies documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
- Updates and/or maintains the Quarterly ALM files, Monthly CECLModule, and Monthly Profitstar (the budgeting software) platform.
- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to regulatory change, current economic issues, and related matters that may impact the financial stability and soundness of the credit union.
- Manages all banking activities, including the Federal Reserve Bank, Federal Home Loan Bank, Catalyst, and investment accounts. This includes balancing, fund transfers, regulatory changes, and payments for expenses and asset purchases.
- Responsible for supervising the accounts payable process and ensuring that items are processed and paid in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for supervising month end close and ensuring that expenses are processed to the correct cost center (branch).
- Responsible for supervising the accounting of Fixed Asset and Prepaids.
- Reviews and approves month-end reconciliations, ensuring no reconciling items remained outstanding beyond 60 days.
- Reviews and approves monthly journal entries from staff.
- Maintains record retention system.
- Serves as a back-up on ALM Model.
- Works with and provides the requested information from and responses to the internal and external financial auditors for the annual financial statements.
- Works with and provides the requested information from and responses to the regulatory exams from the Nevada Financial Institutions Division (Nevada FID) and American Share Insurance (ASI).
- Assists with the preparation of the People Over Profit (POP) Foundation financial statements.
- Assists in the preparation of Regulatory Reports, including the Call Report.
- Prepares and reconcile Investor Reports and Remittances for Loan Pool Sale Participations and Loan Pool Purchase Participations.
- Special projects, research, analysis or other duties as assigned by the VP/Controller.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting plus 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Must have experience in a financial institution of a similar or larger size.
- An MBA or CPA degree is a plus.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others is essential.
