This candidate should have experience in maintaining a database of financial information and be able to recognize and solve any problems that may arise. Lastly, where appropriate this candidate will track 1099s and create a report with related information at year end. We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our thriving Accounting team for our Property Management division. Primary Objectives We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our accounting team. The Accounting Manager will support the Controller in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have multi-entity close experience, strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Additionally, this role includes providing training and guidance to staff-level associates to foster a collaborative and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership and Development Provide continuous coaching and mentorship to accounting staff, ensuring their professional growth and adherence to best practices. Create and implement training programs that align with the team’s developmental needs and the organization’s goals. Encourage a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability within the team, promoting high performance and job satisfaction. Lead and mentor accounting teams to ensure high performance and foster collaboration across departments. Financial Management Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Supervise the month-end and year-end close processes, providing guidance to the team on best practices in financial reporting. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of tax filings. Oversee the accuracy and compliance of financial statements and reports, while developing the team’s expertise in financial management. Operational Oversight Assist the Controller in managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department Supervise accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting activities, encouraging team participation in improving processes. Lead the maintenance and updating of fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations, providing opportunities for team members to take on more responsibility. Coordinate with other departments to ensure the accurate and timely flow of financial information, involving the team in cross-departmental collaboration. Manage day-to-day accounting operations, with an emphasis on team involvement and skill development. Audit and Compliance Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, assigning responsibilities to team members to enhance their audit readiness skills. Guide the team in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, ensuring they understand and contribute to efficient financial operations. Monitor and analyze financial data with the team, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement through collaborative analysis. Support internal and external audits by leveraging the team’s skills to maintain financial integrity and compliance. Budgeting and Forecasting Collaborate with management and the team to support business planning and decision-making processes, encouraging team members to contribute their insights. Monitor budget performance and analyze variances with the team, guiding them in recommending corrective actions. Manage cash liquidity for operational and non-operational expenses. Including reserves, and investments. Provide financial insights and support for strategic decision-making, while developing the team’s capabilities in budgeting and forecasting. Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Essential Knowledge And Skills Proven experience as an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or a similar role with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing team members and fostering a collaborative work environment. Deep knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles, with the ability to transfer this knowledge to the team. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., RealPage, cloud-based systems) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to guide the team in interpreting complex financial data. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while mentoring the team. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of leading cross-departmental collaborations and clearly communicating financial information. High level of accuracy, integrity, and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical conduct and leading by example. Ability to manage and mentor a team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.
