Accounting Manager

About the role

Nucor Steel Hertford County is seeking a leader for the position of Accounting Manager. This role is a key member of the division leadership team and is responsible for leading the accounting function to excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and grow the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
• Cook up and ensure execution of all accounting processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, and period-end close/reporting
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
• Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and drive division performance
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and continuous improvement initiatives across the division
• Lead implementation, communication, and interpretation of accounting and financial policies and procedures
• Provide analytical support to improve cost, efficiency, and overall business performance

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance-related experience
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate work, drive accountability, and deliver results

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
• Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
• Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred

Skills

• Strong analytical skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with ERP systems
