Accounting Manager

About the role

At NOW CFO, we are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager Consultant to support clients throughout the Portland, Oregon market. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys variety, client interaction, and solving day-to-day accounting challenges.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, billing, payroll support, and revenue recognition
• Leading month-end and year-end close processes
• Preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial reports
• Preparation and review of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Ensuring accounting records and financial reporting adhere to GAAP and established accounting practices
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
• Researching and resolving account discrepancies and accounting issues
• Improving accounting procedures, documentation, internal controls, and reporting processes
• Aiding with audit requests, tax preparation, and external reporting requirements
• Working directly with Controllers, CFOs, business owners, and client leadership teams
• Providing guidance and oversight to accounting staff as needed
• Managing responsibilities across multiple client engagements, priorities, and deadlines

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and five or more years of progressive accounting experience. Previous Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting, or similar experience is preferred. Strong full-cycle accounting and month-end close experience, experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations, and a solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements are also required. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, or variance analysis, experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff, and familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting platforms are beneficial. Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly, strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities, and willingness to travel to client locations throughout Portland, Vancouver, Salem, and surrounding areas are necessary.

Pay

Base salary ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.

The role is hybrid, allowing flexibility in work arrangements.
