LOCATION 1140 Wehrle Drive, Buffalo, NY 14221 Job Purpose The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the financial operations of our nationally recognized and growing freight brokerage. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, and oversight of accounting activity related to motor carrier payments and transportation transactions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with an ability to excel in the fast-paced, high-volume nature of freight brokerage. This position will work closely with the Controller and other members of the accounting department to assist in closing procedures, resolve transaction discrepancies, and provide reliable information for business decisions. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Assist in monthend and yearend close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Reconcile freight revenue, carrier costs, gross margins, and shipmentlevel activity between the transportation management system and accounting platform. Investigate and resolve billing, payment, margin, and data discrepancies in partnership with operations and accounting teams. Assist with customer and carrier account reconciliations and escalated payment issues. Support annual audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and requests from external accountants. Assist with cash flow management and forecasting. Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and improve data accuracy across financial and transportation systems. Mentor and manage accounting team members as assigned. Perform other accounting and financial duties as needed. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for monthend close and general ledger accounting. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills. Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fastpaced, transactionheavy environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work across various teams within the organization. Strong interpersonal skills a must. Experience with ERP or accounting software and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office suite tools. Skilled in Great Plains Dynamics is a plus with experience in the transportation/logistic industry.
