Accounting Manager
Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is seeking a small company Accounting Manager/Controller to join their established privately owned company with corporate offices in Scottsdale, AZ. This position is crucial for both hands-on accounting functions and providing leadership to the accounting staff in a highly engaged capacity. The role involves a combination of technical accounting work with leadership responsibilities to ensure accurate financial operations, strong team performance, and effective coordination with internal departments and external service providers. This role requires 100% in-office presence in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Responsibilities
Leadership Supervise and manage accounting staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Address performance concerns in a positive, constructive manner.
Enforce company policies and determine appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.
Ensure a collaborative, productive, and accountable team environment.
Hands‑On Accounting Work Responsible for Corporate Accounting function.
Perform day‑to‑day accounting tasks, which include heavy spreadsheet work.
Conduct monthly projections.
Manage payroll reporting and maintain insurance eligibility reports.
Maintain and prepare Excel spreadsheets for tracking and financial analysis.
Enter and review transactions within the accounting system.
Aid with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end processes as required.
Operational & Vendor Coordination Communicate and negotiate with third‑party vendors, including IT providers, office equipment suppliers, and other service partners.
Support operational efficiency through the timely resolution of vendor-related issues.
Ensure smooth ongoing communication between accounting and cross‑functional business partners.
Qualifications
5+ years' experience in hands-on accounting management.
Strong Excel skills are required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Compensation
Salary range: $90,000-$125,000, depending on skills and experience. The salary flexibility may be considered for exceptional applicants.
