About the role
For well over a hundred years, our client has produced one of the world's favorite beers. They are looking to add an Accounting Manager to their US team, working in the Torrance CA office. You will lead accounting operations, including close, AP/AR oversight, tax compliance, financial-control review, and supervision of accounting staff.
In this critical role, you will review and maintain accounting data per the company’s procedures, manage the accounting functionality of the ERP and oversee system upgrades and migrations, and serve as the main contact for the outside CPA and banking partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, depreciation, bank reconciliations, marketing expense review, supporting schedules, and key financial reports.
- Review and approve accounting data, enter approved figures into ASD consolidation, IFRS, cash flow, and budget forms, and prepare the month-end package for President approval.
- Oversee vendor setup, tax forms, AP approvals, EFT/Wire/ACH batches, remittance advice, cash receipts, deposits, rebates, autopays, and required independent verification of vendor banking details.
- Coordinate tax certifications, information returns, HLS filings support, renewals, CDTFA reporting, tax return submission, Form 1042, financial review/audit support, and day-to-day banking and HLS relationships.
- Review royalty calculations, record Canada GST-related credit card entries, provide Sell-in report data, maintain record retention, and coordinate litigation-hold instructions.
- Manage future Accounting/ERP implementations or upgrades as assigned, improve workflows and controls, and maintain segregation of duties.
Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required, including tax compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems required. Prior experience leading or participating in an accounting/ERP system implementation or upgrade project a plus.
- Familiarity with consolidated and/or IFRS-format reporting packages for a foreign parent company (e.g., inputting financial data into headquarters-provided reporting forms) strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of ACH/wire fraud-prevention controls and banking platforms.
- Bilingual Japanese/English strongly preferred.
