Accounting Manager

About the role

The role is a newly created seat within JM Test Systems, a Baton Rouge-based test equipment company serving industrial customers across the U.S. The position involves owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all locations, delivering variance analysis and executive-ready reporting, strengthening internal controls, and leading a team of accountants.

Responsibilities

• Owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across every JM Test location: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant financial statements the Controller and CFO can trust without re-checking.
• Delivering variance analysis and executive-ready reporting that ties the numbers to what's actually happening across a dozen-plus locations and multiple business lines.
• Strengthening internal controls, keeping the business audit-ready every day rather than just at year-end, and owning multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax compliance as JM Test's geographic footprint grows.
• Leading and developing the AP Supervisor and staff accountants, and pushing Sage 100 and process improvements forward rather than waiting for someone else to modernize the function.

Requirements

• Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience with ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ideally across multiple locations or entities.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience leading and developing accounting staff (e.g., AP or staff accountants).
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting variance analysis and financial results to senior leadership.
• Preferred CPA certification.
• Experience with Sage 100 or a similar mid-market ERP system.
• Multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax experience.
• Background as a Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or Controller at a smaller or single-location organization.
