Accounting Manager

About the role

Position Summary A growing retail/consumer products company in Dallas is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting operations across both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). This role will manage and support accounting staff, oversee month-end close activities, maintain strong internal controls, and contribute to financial reporting and process improvements. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded accounting professional with leadership experience and the ability to work across multiple accounting functions. LOCATION Dallas, TX

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day AP and AR operations
• Supervise and support accounting staff across AP and AR functions
• Review reconciliations, transactions, and outstanding issues
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
• Manage cash activities, including receipts and disbursements
• Maintain internal controls and drive process improvements
• Investigate accounting issues and recommend effective solutions
• Provide coaching, guidance, and development support to team members
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, auditors, and the parent company in Japan as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with both AP and AR functions
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Excel and ERP/accounting systems
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
• CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
• Japanese language skills are preferred but not required
• Experience in retail, consumer products, wholesale/distribution, or a similar environment is a plus
