Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion and accurate financial reporting in accordance with established deadlines.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Staff and Senior Accountants, providing guidance, performance feedback, and workload prioritization.
- Oversee revenue recognition activities by collaborating with cross-functional teams to validate billing data and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare, review, and analyze complex accounting transactions, including revenue, reserves, accruals, and other key financial areas.
- Review financial statements, investigate significant variances, and recommend or approve adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Direct balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, intercompany accounting, and cash management activities to ensure financial accuracy.
- Partner closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and other finance functions to support an efficient and accurate financial close process.
- Maintain and enhance the general ledger system by troubleshooting issues, supporting system updates, and driving process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies while identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen operational efficiency.
- Develop financial reports, analyses, and management presentations that provide meaningful insights for business leaders and support strategic decision-making.
- Support the Director of Accounting with special projects, system implementations, process enhancements, and other ad hoc initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required; CPA certification is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both.
- Public accounting experience is highly desirable; Big Four experience is considered an advantage.
- Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-site organization is preferred.
- Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, or supervising accounting professionals.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial data analysis techniques.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across departments and all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to think strategically and understand the broader business impact of financial decisions.
