About the role

Hawkins Ash CPAs is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team in La Crosse. This role offers a supportive and collaborative environment where you can leverage your skills and advance your career.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements, internal management reports, and required accounting schedules
  • Review routine work completed by team members and ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards
  • Provide coaching and support to staff, helping team members build skills, solve problems, and grow professionally
  • Offer day-to-day guidance, answer questions, and help team members navigate accounting processes
  • Handle daily accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
  • Review the annual operating and capital budgets and submit recommendations to the Managing Partner
  • Support the administration of the firm's 401k plan and participate in compliance activities throughout the year
  • Perform routine banking functions, maintain reconciliations, monitor cash activity, and communicate with banking partners as needed
  • Monitor accounting metrics and contribute ideas that improve workflow, accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years of accounting management experience
  • Strong communication skills and proven leadership experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs and accounting software

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle)
