About the role
Hawkins Ash CPAs is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team in La Crosse. This role offers a supportive and collaborative environment where you can leverage your skills and advance your career.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, internal management reports, and required accounting schedules
- Review routine work completed by team members and ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards
- Provide coaching and support to staff, helping team members build skills, solve problems, and grow professionally
- Offer day-to-day guidance, answer questions, and help team members navigate accounting processes
- Handle daily accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Review the annual operating and capital budgets and submit recommendations to the Managing Partner
- Support the administration of the firm's 401k plan and participate in compliance activities throughout the year
- Perform routine banking functions, maintain reconciliations, monitor cash activity, and communicate with banking partners as needed
- Monitor accounting metrics and contribute ideas that improve workflow, accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Five years of accounting management experience
- Strong communication skills and proven leadership experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs and accounting software
Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team
- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
- Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle)
