About the role
The Accounting Manager oversees the financial close process, mentors, leads, and coaches the finance team, provides guidance on complex accounting issues, acts as a backup for the Controller, performs contract and revenue recognition analysis, tracks and analyzes project costs, conducts WIP reporting and analysis, performs deferred and unbilled revenue analysis, supports revenue forecasting, manages commission accounting, prepares financial reports, partners with business leaders, leads continuous process improvement initiatives, and completes other accounting and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of the financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Mentor, lead, coach others on the finance team
- Research and provide guidance on complex accounting issues
- Act as a backup for the Controller when needed
- Perform contract and revenue recognition analysis in compliance with company policies and GAAP
- Track and analyze project costs, providing margin and project health insights to leadership
- Conduct WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and analysis to maintain accurate project financials
- Perform deferred and unbilled revenue analysis to ensure appropriate revenue recognition
- Support revenue forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects
- Manage commission accounting, ensuring timely and accurate commission payments based on project billings
- Prepare financial reports for project managers and leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Partner with business leaders to understand operational processes and identify potential issues
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Complete other accounting and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum of 7 years’ accounting experience, preferably with a project / revenue focus
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups and advanced formulas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to partner cross-functionally
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Preferred CPA or CMA with public accounting experience
- Power BI experience helpful
- Prior experience in percentage of completion accounting preferred

Benefits
Salary range: $110,000 - $140,000 (+ bonus)
