Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Lead the financial management of projects, including detailed job costing, budget tracking, and variance analysis to ensure project profitability.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance.
- Cook up and manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors as required.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax filing requirements.
- Analyse financial performance and provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
- Proven experience working as an Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or in a similar senior accounting position.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with a high attention to detail.
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in the construction, roofing, or a related project-based industry would be a significant advantage.
