About the role
The Accounting Manager role is part of the Finance team at Azenta Inc., a global leader in R&D genomics services. Reporting to the Controller, this position supports the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, and supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls (SOX), and company policies.
- Support the preparation of external financial reports (10-Q, 10-K schedule )in coordination with SEC reporting team.
- Avoidance of audit requests and serve as a key contact for external auditors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Cook up with cross-functional teams (FP&A, Tax, Legal, etc.) to support business initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Participate in special projects, such as system implementations or process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Big 4 (or equivalent top-tier) public accounting firms’ experience is required (Audit preferred).
- Knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, Inventory management and other key accounting standards.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Experience in a U.S. public company highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working in a multinational or complex corporate structure is preferred.
- Detail-oriented, organized, responsive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
