Accounting Manager, Accounting, Amazon Stores Accounting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join the Stores Accounting team (supporting Zappos & Shopbop).

Responsibilities

• Own Operational Accounting: Manage the monthly close cycle, account reconciliations, flux and variance analysis, and audit support activities while partnering with technology teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Automate: Work on automation projects and lead the coordination of designing processes and tools to make financial statement processes easier and more accurate.
• Support Expansion: Support the expansion of Amazon's healthcare business by ensuring implementation of controlled processes to keep Amazon's financial statements materially correct.
• Consult: Operate as a valued consultant to partner with many different stakeholder teams across Amazon.
• Make Decisions: Be an empowered, impactful decision maker who drives the direction of accounting operations and process improvements to completion.
• Collaborate: Collaborate with Amazonians of diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Accounting and Financial Systems.
• Demonstrated experience in operational accounting, month-end close processes, account reconciliation ownership, variance analysis, audit support, accounting requirements documentation, and process design.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and influencing teams to accomplish unusually complex challenges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

Skills

• Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency.
• Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients.
• Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions.
